The Pursuit of Happyness is a 2006 film about a struggling, on and off-homeless salesman-turned-stockbrocker as he takes care of his 5-year-old son as he's poised to begin a life-changing professional endeavor that will eventually become his path to success.
Directed by Gabriele Muccino. Written by Steve Conrad, based on the book by Chris Gardner
This part of my life... this part right here. this is called "happiness".
Christopher is staying with me.
Repeated line, referring to his son
This part of my life is called "internship".
It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson, the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking: How did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue. And maybe we can actually never have it, no matter what. How did he know that?
This part of my life, this part right here, this part is called "being stupid".
Can I say something? Um, I'm the type of person that if you ask me a question and I don't know the answer, I'm gonna tell you that I don't know. But I bet you what, I know how to find the answer and I will find the answer.
I just have two questions for you. What do you do, and how do you do it?
To a man who pulls up in an expensive sports-car
Don't ever let someone tell you you can't do something. Not even me. All right?
To his son.
When I was young, and I'd get A's, I'd get this good feeling of all the things that I could be. And then I'd never became any of them.
Christopher Gardner: I was not aware of that. My circumstances have changed some.

Christopher Gardner: Um, yes. "Fuck" is spelled right but you shouldn't use that word.
Christopher: Why? What's it mean?
Christopher Gardner: It's, um, an adult word used to express anger and, uh, other things. But it's an adult word. It's spelled right, but don't use it.

Christopher: Hey dad, you wanna hear something funny? There was a man who was drowning, and a boat came, and the man on the boat said "Do you need help?" and the man said "God will save me". Then another boat came and he tried to help him, but he said "God will save me", then he drowned and went to Heaven. Then the man told God, "God, why didn't you save me?" and God said "I sent you two boats, you dummy!"
